Climbing courses in the Verdon Gorges
With its enormous potential and the diversity of its cliffs and routes, the Verdon is a great place to do a climbing trip. Rock'n Wild offers different thematic trips, in single or multi-pitches routes, initiation or improvement, on dates fixed in advance. These trips last, usually a small week.
Rock'n Wild is also able to organize climbing courses at the request of small groups.
Apart from climbing shoes and chalk bags, all climbing equipment (helmets, ropes, harnesses, quickdraws, slings, carabiners, belaying and descent devices, etc.) can be provided during the trips and are included in the rates.
The rates mentioned include the supervision of activities and the loan of equipment only. To organize your stay, do not hesitate to contact us. We will find solutions for your accommodation, catering and transport.
To book a course, it is necessary, in any case, to contact us so that we discuss the most suitable formula and that we send you an invoice, with deposit for reservation (cf. general conditions of sale).
Single pitch routes courses
Initiation
Despite the name «initiation», these courses are for people who are not completely beginners. It is appropriate, thus, that they have already climbed in single-pitch routes, or, at least in rope climbing gyms, and that they can climb in lead at least 4a and maximum 5c+.Beyond that, they are directed to an improvement course. The initiation courses allow participants to evolve in single-pitch routes in these grades or slightly above. In addition to technique learning to master and progress in these difficulties and in different profiles (slab, overhang, crack, open-book, ridge, etc.), participants will learn or review simple safety techniques (tope rope and leader belaying, lead progression, handling at the top, simple escapes, abseil, simple knots, communication when climbing). The focus will also be on managing fall and fear.
Improvement
The improvement single-pitch routes courses are therefore aimed at climbers, who have already had the opportunity to climb on lead in routes of minimum grade 6a. These courses allow participants to progress in routes rated 6, or even 7, by improving their technique, but also by progressing on a physical, mental and tactical level. Participants will be able to climb routes on-sight or after work. Simple safety techniques will also be reviewed. Other more advanced ones can be taught (managing the rope drag, working in overhangings, less usual knots, etc.). Emphasis may also be placed on training methods.
Multi pitches routes courses
Initiation
The initiation multi-pitches routes courses are for climbers who have not evolved or very little in multi-pitches routes, but who have already climbed in single-pitch routes, on lead, in routes of minimum grade 5b. These courses allow to discover the basic safety techniques to evolve in multi-pitches routes (seting up relays, belaying the leader and the second(s) from the relay, rope management, approaches, basic equipment, communication...). These learnings will be done gradually (on the ground, in single-pitch routes, in multi-pitches). During the week, participants will be able to complete two to three easy routes.
Improvement
The improvement multi-pitches routes courses are aimed at experienced climbers, having already completed several multi-pitches routes and climbing on lead at least in the 5c. These courses allow to review the basic security techniques. It will also be a question of promoting autonomy, without making participants supervisors or rescuers (preparation of the outing, reading of climbing guide and route, escapes on the wall, abseil seting-up, procedures in case of incident and accident...). During the week, participants will be able to complete three to four easy to difficult multi-pitches routes.
On demand courses
Apart from the scheduled course, Rock'n Wild can respond to requests from groups and organize courses on demand. These can, then, be completely personalized and integrate different themes and activities: single and/or multi-pitches routes, initiation or improvement, but also particular sectors, list of routes, particular profiles, grades, on sight or after work, mental or physical preparation, tactics, security techniques, assistance and rescue, etc.
